Martsam Travel launches Archaeobirding Expeditions
Archaeobirding is a new concept created by Martsam Travel which is a mixture of three of our most important specialties: colorful live culture, archaeology and birdwatching tours.
The natural and cultural environment where we develop our operations is known as the Mayan World which includes Southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and El Salvador.
Five countries where the nature blended to be one of the regions with the major biodiversity of the world, in addition to have an incomparable archaeological richness and live culture who make vibrate to the visitors.
Archaeobirding Expeditions are an innovative tender to discover endemic and emblematic birds such as: the resplendent Quetzal, Pink Headed Warbler, Azure Rumped Tanager, Horned Guan, Yucatan Flycatcher, Yucatan Jay, Yucatan Bobwhite, Blue Tailed Hummingbird, Spotted Nightingale-thrush, Yellow-throated Brush-finch, Ocellated Turkey and Orange Breasted Falcon, among others.
Most of these birds are located inside of national parks with a high content of archaeology and nature such as Tikal National Park, Laguna del Tigre National Park, Yaxha, Iximche, Copan, Coba, Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Caracol, etc. where in addition to the birds you will find a great variety of mammals, reptiles and insects which complete and enrich each of the expeditions.
According to some of our clients’ feedback Guatemala Expeditions always exceed their expectations, the combination between birds, live culture and the Mayan Cities is a perfect match for the lovers of nature, birds and Mayan Archaeology. It is a privilege to be at the top of Temple II of Tikal where they can observe and photograph the Orange breasted falcon and watch the monkeys jumping from Temple 216 from the enigmatic Yaxha National Park.
